Welcome to the crazy and the unexpected.
Ben Brown Jr. is a media professional and project manager, with work that has been utilized by numerous for-profit and non-profit organizations. He has lived in Oregon since April 1999, a Southern California transplant. He is also openly queer, openly Socialist and has been openly HIV+ for almost 30 years; these things inform his work a great deal.
In addition to graphic design, photography, illustration and writing, Ben has also been the recipient of numerous accolades and awards for his service to community-based projects and endeavors, and has over 25 years of of combined retail, professional office and non-profit management experience, dealing with events as small as bar fundraisers to multi-day festivals and managing Oregon's largest parade. He has been featured, either as artist or board member, in the Oregonian, Willamette Week (including almost all content, including advertising, in their 32 page Pride Guide in 2012, issue 3831, 06 June 2012, link to their archive here), the Statesman-Journal, Portland Mercury, PQ Monthly, El Hispanic News and Just Out to name a few.
His work has been featured in two different retrospectives over the last five years entitled Tangible Vandalism. The third installment was placed on hold due to family illness, but should appear in Summer 2017.
And, Ace of Spades? On his right shoulder is an ace of spades tattoo. One day, if you are lucky, he may tell you it's secret origin.
